An internet cafe network is taking shape in Sussex with plans to establish outlets across the country.
Internet Junction, St George's Road, Brighton, is the third internet cafe to be set up by Robin Cook, adding to existing ventures in Brighton and Chichester.
Mr Cook said: "We will be opening more cafes in Hove and Eastbourne in the next few months and have plans for 14 more. We want to set up Internet Junctions across the country with no more than an hour-and-a-half travel time between each venue.
"We intend to maintain the friendly living room atmosphere we have found popular in all the new cafes. People are not crammed in at desks full of PCs. There is plenty of space and a comfy chair for everyone."
Mr Cook opened computer consumable store H&C in Brighton in 1996 and launched the first internet cafe two years later.
He said: "The internet cafe side of the business was a happy accident. There was a big internet cafe just down the road from us which closed suddenly and the owners put up a notice suggesting customers visit us for internet access."
The total number of screens available at the Internet Junctions in Sussex has topped 100 with the opening of the second Brighton store.
The cafes are all signed up to deliver training from the BBC WebWise project, helping novices get to grips with the new technology.
People can book time to work through the WebWise training CD without charge. Fifteen minutes online costs £1 and for 25p extra visitors can buy a cup of coffee while surfing.
