The visionary behind proposals for a seafront monorail system wants to call it the Brighton Bullet.
David Courtney has persuaded experts to visit Brighton to determine whether a track could be installed from the Marina to the Palace Pier.
Profits from the multi-million pound transport scheme would be used to help maintain the Victorian Volk's Railway.
Mr Courtney, who heads the Marina's publicity machine, said: "The famous Brighton to London Pullman train was known as The Brighton Belle and so, following in the same spirit, I would like to propose that the monorail be called the Brighton Bullet.
"I know that it is early days for this but I believe it is important to establish a name up front in order to give the project an identity and one that will be easily remembered and hopefully embraced by the community."
Mr Courtney said he had approached a leading monorail development and construction company with international experience to perform an on-site survey to find out the viability of the proposed route.
He said: "The conclusion arrived at by the company from their initial study was very positive. They agree that phase one, the link between the Pier and the Marina, is a relatively unencumbered route with good direct access into the Marina.
"The next step would be to commission the company to undertake a comprehensive feasibility study."
Mr Courtney said two issues had arisen from the preliminary study, how it would be funded and the impact on Volk's Railway.
He said funding would come from the private sector, backed with public sector grants, while cash generated by the monorail would be used to renovate and run Magnus Volk's creation.
Mr Courtney said: "The general response to the monorail project received from various sectors of the community has been extremely positive.
"Initial discussion with some of the commercial tenants and residents associated with the Marina resulted in them all agreeing a monorail system giving direct access into the complex would be extremely beneficial.
"I will be meeting with the proprietors of the commercial sector of the Marina later this week to determine how we move forward from here.
"I have formed the Brighton Monorail Company Ltd to act as the development and operational entity."
