Albion boss Micky Adams has reiterated his commitment to the Seagulls.

It follows fresh reports that he is a leading candidate to take charge at his old club Southampton.

Adams, linked with Millwall and QPR already this season, said today: "I am contracted to this club for the next two years and I have not had any contact with any other club of late.

"Obviously I cannot help speculation, but it is not because I have an agent touting my name around.

"I suppose if you are successful in any walk of life people want to speculate, but as I have said many times before I am happy at this club and will give my best until told differently."

Saints chairman Rupert Lowe has refused to rule Adams out of the running.

He will ask Albion for permission to interview him at the end of the season, according to a national newspaper.

Adams is said to be on a shortlist of names to succeed Glenn Hoddle, alongside former England coach Kevin Keegan and Nottingham Forest boss David Platt.

Lowe said: "We are not doing anything at the moment until the end of the season. Stuart Gray is in charge at the moment and our position hasn't changed. We're not ruling anyone in or out at this stage."

Albion chairman Dick Knight was unavailable for comment last night.

Adams is halfway through a four-year contract with the Seagulls and has just steered them to promotion after doing the same at Fulham.

He spent five years at Southampton as a player and would relish the chance to test his managerial skills in the Premiership. Albion are unlikely to deny Adams permission to talk to Saints if their predicted summer move materialises, although chief executive Martin Perry stressed: "We've had no approach whatsoever."
