Barbie dolls are turning their noses up at High Street fashion and will only be seen in designer clothes.

Posh Spice Barbie has been flaunting her figure in a transparent gold dress and Naomi Campbell Barbie has been strutting her stuff in a daring mini-skirt in Brighton.

"It Girl" Barbie Tara Palmer-Tompkinson ventured out in an eye-catching zebra-print coat draped over a skimpy black swimsuit and designer Stella McCartney Barbie has been stealing the show in a fluffy maribou feather masterpiece.

The Barbie celebs, dressed by dressmaker Paul Milana, are now making a guest appearance at a glittering fashion show at Brighton College on Friday in aid of charity Kids Appeal which enables sick children to go on holiday.

Eight dolls, to be auctioned to the highest bidders, will each be dressed in their own Milana creations embellished with pearls, garnets, goose feathers and metal organza.

They made their first appearance at Madonna's wedding shower in the window of Mr Milana's shop in Kemp Town, Brighton, during Valentine's week.

Canadian-born Mr Milana, whose Brighton home is crammed with Barbie memorabilia, said: "They all had a party in my window and had different adventures each day.

"There was a pregnant Madonna Barbie given to me by a friend and Stella McCartney tried to upstage the bride in a stunning feathered dress.

"Gwyneth Paltrow kept bursting into tears and Naomi and Posh kept squabbling. We even had Ken dolls.

"Tom Cruise served cocktails behind the bar and Guy Ritchie was dressed in leather loincloths on his stag night.

The Barbie frocks were handmade by Mr Marina with meticulous attention to detail.

He was unable to make patterns or use pins to create the miniature gowns, some of which are encrusted with real gems.

Mr Marina, 36, said: "When I was invited to take part in the Kids Appeal fashion show I knew the Barbie creations would be perfect.

"I don't know how much they will fetch at auction but all I care about is enhancing the lives of sick children.

"I was keen to support the charity as money raised goes directly towards the children themselves."

A collection of Mr Milana's full-size evening gowns, each carrying a £3,000 plus price tag, will provide the finale for the fashion show organised by the Brighton College Family Society.

Fashion show organiser Gina Scourfield said: "We were delighted when Mr Milana offered to donate the dolls.

"The detail on them is just astounding.

"Not only are they sewn to perfection but the dolls have beautiful hairstyles and even have body glitter."

Brighton-based Mrs Scourfield, 39, said: "All the money raised for Kids Appeal will go towards helping local kids suffering with leukaemia and other serious illnesses get a holiday they might otherwise never get.

"This can make all the difference to a terminally ill child and their family."

Kids Appeal already owns one mobile holiday home in the Isle of Wight, where sick children can spend time, but they are trying to raise £27,000 to fund a second one.
