Adam Trimingham's article on the dreadful state of York Place, Brighton, (Argus, April 17) reminded me of a planning meeting I attended more than a year ago at Hove Town Hall.
The councillors were discussing serving an enforcement notice on the owners of these shops, requiring them to renovate the buildings.
When someone said, "Do we serve a notice on ourselves, as we own a couple of them?" there was a great deal of merriment in the chamber.
