John Hodgson related the US spy plane incident to his claimed fact that the US had never forgiven the Chinese for entering into the Korean War.

He seems unaware the Korean war was not a US action alone but was in fact the United Nations' reaction to the invasion of South Korea, initially by the North Korean army and later the Chinese volunteer army.

I wonder if he watched Forgotten Heroes: Korea Remembered on BBC 2 on April 20, which recounted the actions by the Gloucestershire Regiment and the Northumberland Fusiliers at the Imjin river?

I served in Korea during the war - correctly termed a police action - and have recently received the Korean War Service Medal, awarded to "all personnel from whatever nation who contributed to the efforts to safeguard the Republic of Korea and to uphold liberal democracy around the world".

With the medal came a letter of appreciation signed by Kim Dae-Jung, president of the Republic of Korea. The words quoted are his, not mine.

The letter of appreciation bears the flags of the 21 countries that committed military forces in support of the United Nations' action.
