Brighton and Hove City Council has decided to raise the finance needed to fund the considerable cost of dealing with illegal parking problems by taxing the car-owning residents of central Hove via the introduction of residents' parking permits.
If our proper police force were to be given this extra money, it would be able to enforce the requirements of the law in a way far more acceptable to the majority of the general public.
Better the devil you know etc.
Any backlash will come from the residents when they realise the new stealth tax they are paying does not in any way ease the parking problems they face and that they have been "sold a pup" by the very people they elected to protect their interests.
