A mother prevented a man from abducting her two-year-old daughter at Gatwick Airport yesterday.
When she realised her child was missing, the mother spotted the kidnapper taking her up an escalator. She grabbed her daughter and he escaped.
The attempted abduction took place just after 10am when the girl's family and friends were unloading their luggage from a shuttle bus at the South Terminal before going on holiday abroad.
The girl, who was white and had shoulder-length blonde hair, was wearing a dark pink tracksuit.
The man was black, aged about 35, more than 6ft tall and heavily built. He wore light blue jeans and a dull-coloured top.
