Micky Adams has dedicated Albion's title triumph to the fans and his players.

The boss is eager to share the glory out after Saturday's 4-1 home win over Macclesfield clinched the Seagulls' first championship for 36 years.

"I know it was a big day for the fans and I dedicate this to them," Adams said.

"They have been through more downs than ups in the last few years, but it was my players' day as well.

"They have worked ever so hard. They were desperate for a championship medal and they are going to get one. It has been a long, hard season and it isn't over yet, but we are unofficial champions and we are going to enjoy the moment."

Bobby Zamora scored the third hat-trick of his Albion career to raise his total for the season to 31 and Paul Watson added a stunning late strike.

The Seagulls are now two points above tomorrow night's trouble-torn visitors Chesterfield, who lost 3-1 at promotion hopefuls Hull, and they have a game in hand.

Chesterfield's theoretical chance of catching Albion will disappear tomorrow in Leeds, when a disciplinary panel is expected to confirm or increase the Spireites' nine point penalty for financial irregularities.

Albion's aim now is to finish above Chesterfield, regardless of any points punishment, which they can achieve by winning tomorrow night.

Adams said: "That is what we are determined to do. We have got a big game coming up.

"We've said all along we think we are a decent side.

"We got off to the worst possible start and a few question marks were raised about me, but like my team we have come good."
