Bad weather has delayed completion of a £1 million Brighton seafront play area and paddling pool.
The pool was due to open this Sunday but weeks of bad weather have prevented builders from completing decorations and surfaces, including the paddling pool.
Brighton and Hove council now hopes to open the pool and playground for the Spring Bank Holiday weekend at the end of the month.
Assistant leisure director David Fleming said: "We've not had a dry week since this scheme started.
"Obviously we apologise to any children who are disappointed. But it is too risky to take a chance on laying certain surfaces in this damp weather."
The old pool will be sealed off for the summer. Its site is earmarked for part of shoreline development proposed as part of the renovated West Pier.
