In order to maintain an appropriate level of precaution against the spread of foot-and-mouth disease, the Spring and Bluebell Weekend, scheduled for May 12/13, has been cancelled.
Obviously, the bluebells are not aware of this and will still be seen in all their splendour.
But, conducted tours of the best woodland areas of the estate will not be able to go ahead and some areas will remain sealed off.
I know this will be a major disappointment for many as it is one of the few occasions in the year when the less able can explore our remote areas by vehicle.
But I hope everyone understands the reasons for the difficult decision.
