I welcome the move by Adur District Council to allow opposition members to chair its new scrutiny committees.
But Councillor Neil Parkin's criticism of Brighton and Hove's political system (Argus, April 30) applies even more to his fellow Conservatives who control West Sussex County Council, where, out of a total of 48 committees, only one is chaired by a member of the opposition.
