A police car smashed into a lamppost and house during a crash.
The driver of the police car, a 27-year-old PC, suffered whiplash and was taken to hospital following the crash at 3.39pm on Saturday.
The police car was responding to an emergency call in Lewes.
It was travelling north on Lewes Road in Newhaven when it swerved to avoid a Ford Escort van emerging from Lawes Avenue and ran into the wall of a house.
Sergeant Steve Grace, of Bexhill traffic division, said: "A police car was in collision with the wall of a house whilst avoiding another vehicle emerging from Lawes Avenue. We are investigating who is at fault. That is not immediately apparent."
The lamppost was bent under the impact of the crash and the wall and car were damaged. The 31-year-old van driver, from Newhaven, was not injured.
Police are appealing for witnesses.
