Albion fans were out in force again last night to pay tribute to two of the Seagulls' most loyal servants.
A Withdean crowd of 4,195 watched the Third Division champions beat Charlton 2-0 in a benefit match for physio Malcolm Stuart and retired kit man Jock Riddell.
Stuart and Riddell had the honour of leading out the teams.
Albion boss Micky Adams and his Charlton counterpart Alan Curbishley honoured them by fielding virtually full-strength starting line-ups.
Ankle injury victims Richard Carpenter and Danny Cullip were the only absentees from Albion's title triumph against Chesterfield a week earlier.
Carpenter has surgery tomorrow to cure a problem which has bothered him for some time.
There was plenty of local interest in the Charlton side paraded by Curbishley, Stuart's landlord during his playing days with Albion.
In goal was Sasa Ilic, who started his career in England with former non-League Sussex club Stamco.
Their defence included Brighton-born Steve Brown, while ex-Albion winger John Robinson came on for the second half.
One of the biggest cheers was reserved for Stuart when he was called upon to treat one-time England under-21 international Chris Allen.
The match was played at an appropriately relaxed pace, Charlton using it as an exercise for their closing Premiership fixture against Liverpool on Saturday week.
Bobby Zamora's appetite for goals is the same, irrespective of the circumstances. Albion's young marksman was on target yet again after Shaun Newton for Charlton and Paul Brooker for the Seagulls had each been denied by the woodwork.
Zamora guided a header past Ilic via the underside of the bar from Brooker's cross in the 42nd minute.
Adams used all eight substitutes, including youth team coach Dean Wilkins. Scott Ramsay, one of the replacements, capitalised on a static Charlton defence to slot Albion's second with 15 minutes left.
Stuart, celebrating almost 25 years service for the Seagulls, said: "It has been a wonderful season for us and to finish it like this was really memorable."
