Dickie Day's Sidley have a high-noon showdown with Selsey tomorrow at the High Street Ground with a County League double in their sights.
Second-placed Sidley need two points from their last two games to overhaul leaders Burgess Hill and win the title.
But Day's efforts to secure the division one championship for the first time in the club's history are being hampered by injuries, illness and work commitments.
Day is sweating on the fitness of Adam Day (foot), Peter Baker (groin) and Jimmy Watson (thigh) while captain Wayne Farrier has a heavy cold and Paul Balch is working. Strikers Peter Heritage and Gerard Moyse, midfielder Jason Finch and goalkeeper Danny Poole are already definitely out.
Despite the problems, Day is keen for his side, already John O'Hara Cup winners, to finish the job against Danny Hinshelwood's third-placed side.
Day said: "We would be absolutely stupid to go there and try and get a draw. We have played them once this year and lost and they are the form team.
"I just want it over and done with. There is all this expectation on us because we are so close, which is only natural.
"Lots of people are telling me, Sidley are going to do it, but it is not that simple and we won't be taking Selsey lightly."
If Sidley don't do it tomorrow, they have a last chance at Three Bridges on Tuesday.
Selsey player-boss Hinshelwood, who is doubtful for the game, said: "The pressure will be on Sidley while we want the three points to try cement ourselves in third place."
Eastbourne Town will be relegated for the first time in their history if they fail to win at Ringmer tomorrow.
Ringmer boss Glen Geard will ensure the survival of his old club Whitehawk if his men take a point from struggling Town
