Wintons Fishery at Burgess Hill has a reputation for big catfish and carp but hardly ever more than one or two at a time.
However, Poole angler Stephen Kidds visit to the fishery saw him land not only his first ever catfish but by the end of the session add two more and four big carp.
Kidd had never even seen a catfish before let alone caught one, but fishing with pop-up halibut pellets he landed catfish of 56lb 6oz, 50lb and 36lb which during his six-day stay would have been enough for any angler, but he also caught two mirror carp of 28lb and 26lb 4oz plus two commons of 24lb and 22lb.
He fished Mallard Lake for what will probably be the catch of a life-time and fished with a stinger and PVA bag with his hook bait on 17lb breaking strain line.
The access roads and parking bays have all been re-done at Swanborough Lakes and there is now new parking near the tench lake.

Reader on a black minkie with a floating line just two foot below the surface and weighed 14lb 12oz. Another big fish scaling 10lb came from the same lake and fell to a Montana fished by A. Russell.
On Spring Pool one of the most successful anglers was Len Anscombe of Catsfield who fished a black buzzer for ten fish to 5lb. Other good fish have included a rainbow of 6lb 12oz by Roy Whithers and one of 5lb 12oz by John Whithers, while Maria Phillips captured a rainbow of 7lb on a nymph.
