A night soaking up the sounds and taste of the Caribbean was guaranteed to put us in a good mood.
The reggae dance night served up a delicious combination of live African music and dance, intermingled with DJ sets of classic Reggae and island sounds.
The mixed crowd lost all inhibitions and danced away from the outset, while nibbling on an authentic Caribbean buffet of plantain, jerk chicken and sweet potatoes.
The evening opened with exquisite sounds, nimbly plucked on a sun piano - an instrument resembled a hollowed-out gourd - during a performance of traditional Zimbabwean mbira music.
We were even treated to a performance of African/Brazilian drums and live Capoeira - a dance which is like a cross between Kung Fu and ballet.
Yet what really united the audience was the reggae band Sun. Bob Marley's I Don't Want To Wait In Vain proved the biggest hit with lots of the older crowd, some of whom you couldn't help thinking were reliving their Caribbean honeymoon.
It may have been a stretch of the imagination to transport ourselves from the dark interior of the club to a Caribbean island complete with golden sands and turquoise seas but the reggae rhythm certainly helped.
