Ned Sherrin, one of the country's favourite wits and satirists brought together a fine array of Sussex talent for the recording of the popular BBC Radio 4 Show.
Where there is wit, cynicism and an opportunity to promote Brighton and Hove you'll find Simon Fanshawe - and he was an integral part of the 43-minute show.
It was the usual mix of entertaining jokes based on events of the week, music and stories from the guests on the panel.
A chat show with a bit extra. A tried-and-tested formula, which has made this long-running radio show so popular.
The Brighton audience who had quickly snapped up the free tickets to become part of the recording, quickly got into the swing of things and were laughing in the right places without the need of a prompt from the stage manager or signs saying "Laugh Now".
Film director and author Val Guest, Hove author Louise Rennison, and Bagpuss creator Oliver Postgate, delighted the audience as they recounted amusing incidents and off-beat experiences.
We had music from the Brighton-based Blue Hearts along with another music spot from duo Richard Durrant and Ditchling's Herbie Flowers.
Up-and-coming Brighton comedian Stephen Grant was a great hit with his jokes about the city of Brighton and Hove, describing how it was a impossible to park in the city, forcing motorists to be severely punished by sending them to Portslade.
Ned Sherrin wound up the show with a joke about President Clinton having to go down on his knees to receive a knighthood to tidy up any loose ends.
As ever the joke sailed very close to the wind, but Ned Sherrin, as ever, got away with it.
