Kevin Woods played a leading role as Blackstone beat Hove Medina by five wickets with two balls remaining in the West Sussex League.

Woods, having already taken 4-23 from his six overs as Medina made 178-8, then carried his bat for an unbeaten 76 as his side got home having needed six off the last over.

It was also a momentous day for the Woods family with Kevin's 13-year-old son taking his first wicket for the club, with his dad taking the catch.

Crawley Eagles picked up maximum points after they enjoyed a seven-wicket win over Palmers as they skittled out the visitors for 73 with Shahid taking a hat-trick of wickets in his figures of 5-1. Khamran Malik made 35 as the target was surpassed.

Niall Smith hit an unbeaten 69 and Steven Mander 52 as St Matthias edged home for a three-wicket win against Chichester Park Priory III despite Gary Taylor taking 5-22. Priory had earlier made 170-9 with John Lee (26) pushing up the total with a late flurry.

Lancing Manor had a 153-run win over Horsham III after Dan Griffin's 73 helped them amass 233-9 and the hosts were then dismissed for 80.

Worthing Chippingdale made 199-7 (Joel Kingsbury 3-31) before good bowling by Mark Adams (3-19) and Ben Stone (3-27) meant hosts Findon III were restricted to 127-9 in reply as they tasted defeat.

West Blatchington's 179-9 (Simon Forrest 3-42) total proved too daunting for Patcham, who made 130-9 in reply with Brian Huffer making 59.

Brighton and Hove III overhauled Dome Mission's 159-7 with a wicket to spare and four balls remaining with 14-year-old Daniel Cartlidge (19no) hitting the winning runs. It was a good day for the youngsters with Brighton's Tim Carthews, 16, hitting 38 and 15-year-old James Hassell taking 3-6.
