How ironic the correspondent who complained the Tories who rang him or her were too ashamed to identify themselves (Opinion, May 11) decided to withhold his or her name and address.

Pot, kettle and black springs to mind.

It is rather sad that he or she went on to belittle the "Keep the pound" campaign.

While not being a Tory supporter myself, I do at least give them credit for declaring where they stand on the euro issue.

Labour, on the other hand, appears to have a "let's not speak about it" approach.

Europe now rules our everyday lives. How dare the EU declare it is illegal for a greengrocer to sell in weights other than kilos and grammes.

If customers want to buy in ounces, traders should be able to sell in ounces.

Why did we have to ask permission from Europe to use foot-and-mouth vaccine? Because we are ruled by Europe, not by our own Government.

My vote will go to the first party to promise to stand up to Europe. Even better, leave altogether and join the American Free Trade Zone.
