I am very pleased the Bell family ("Flowering youth", Opinion, May 15) is "struggling" on so admirably. I bear no ill-will towards the children and wish them great success in their future.

I sympathise with the parents entirely and understand caring for perfectly-behaved, incredibly talented and intelligent offspring must place unbelievable strain on their lives. It seems, however, that in having children and a job at the same time, they are in a situation unique to all other parents.

Since there are three angelic children with so many hobbies, money in the Bell household must be tight and luxuries such as modesty and good taste have to be sacrificed. However, they should make a little from the free advertisement for their garden centre. I envy the friends and relatives of that couple, who are to be regaled with facts and tales clearly demonstrating the Bells - little cherubs - are superior to everybody else (lucky them).

However, please ask them to forgive me if I vomit into my toilet after reading their literary masterpiece.
