Horsham racing driver Clive Richards claimed a brace of podium placings in the Autosport Caterham Eurocup last Saturday.
He took the double victory as the series visited the Belgian Grand Prix circuit of Spa-Francorchamps.
Richards, 39, was driving his Colards Motorsport-prepared Caterham Superlight and was delighted when he claimed a front-row grid position in qualifying.
The Sussex ace played a key role in both races and led each of them for several laps. In the end, he was unlucky not to leave Spa without at least one set of victory laurels.
The first race saw him tucked close in behind leader Chris Cooper on the final lap as they rounded the famous Rivage corner, but then Cooper found some unflagged oil and slid into the gravel.
Richards followed suit but managed to get going again and eventually finished third behind teenager Simon Pullan (Lincoln) and Surrey's Nigel Taylor.
In the second race, Cooper stormed from the back of the grid to snatch the lead on the final lap after it had been disputed all the way by Pullan, Richards and Taylor.
Pullan slid into the tyre wall at almost the last corner, which let Richards nip through to claim second place, just eight-tenths of a second behind Cooper.
Richards now holds second position in the championship, just four points behind Pullan.
Championship placings: 1 Simon Pullan, 58 points; 2 Clive Richards, 54; 3 Nigel Taylor, 53; 4 Malcolm Cook, 44; 5 Michel Borens, 40; 6 Chris Cooper, 39.
