Littlehampton have moved 11 points clear of St James in Division Two after winning their third game in four starts.
They won by four wickets at Sidley while St James were held to a draw by Lewes Priory.
Teenager Jonathan Haffenden led the way for Sidley as they reached 192-6 declared at home to Littlehampton for whom left-arm spinner Chris Hanks took 4 -71.
But it was the batting of Danny Rive (77) and skipper Stuart Stoneham (52) that took the visitors to victory at 193-6 with time to spare.
St James raced to 225-4 at the Sussex University Ground against Lewes Priory with Russell Piper (81) leading the wayas Khashif Ibrahim took 3-75.
Lewes then showed no inclination to chase their target and reached 163-4 at stumps, Ibrahim making 42 and Mark Dalgleish 37.
There was excitement at Preston Nomads where the home side beat Bexhill by one wicket after the visitors had declared at 166-9.
In that total, David Munro led the way with 59 and Ian Jones took 3-49.
For Nomads, Mark Randall played a match-winning innings of 56 not out while the bowling of Jason Wickenden, who took 6-69, hardly deserved to see him on the losing side.
Stirlands have become the League's draw specialists over the last two seasons and have already drawn three of their four games so far this season, the latest at Roffey .
Peter Cross (61) and skipper Jamie Hall (54 ) took Stirlands to 234- 4 declared but the home side hung on at 208-8 at stumps.
Jamie Morgan hit top score of 61 while Stirlands' Danny Cox (4-27) was the pick of the bowlers.
