Langney Sports will be playing under a different name next season.
The Dr Martens League side will now be known as Eastbourne Borough Football Club.
Chairman Len Smith said: "The decision to change the name of the football club was not taken lightly but as Langney Sports had already put Eastbourne firmly on the football map it was considered a logical move to include the name of our home town to increase public awareness of our ultimate aims to bring a higher level of football to the people of Eastbourne.
"We hope that the people of the town will come along to Priory Lane, support Eastbourne's premier football club and form a working partnership with the business community to take the club forward."
The move means there will be three sides called Eastbourne playing in senior football next season, with United in division one of the County League and Town in division two.
Crawley Town have signed Lewes striker Warren Bagnall on a one-year contract.
Bagnall scored 36 goals last season as Lewes won promotion from Ryman League division three and claimed the Sussex Senior Cup.
The 24-year-old PE teacher has also played for Saltdean and Selsey.
