I support Alan Nunn's view of Brighton: Out The Closet (Opinion, May 25). Nothing in his letter expressed hatred of gay people.
I can understand the positive reaction of gay people to Brighton: Out The Closet. However, the fact remains that, on balance, the programmes would have deterred more potential visitors than they encouraged, except for those in the gay community itself.
Mr Aldis, in his simplistic castigation of Mr Nunn (Opinion, May 28), refers to "the average tolerant human being living in Brighton" being proud to see the programmes. The average tolerant Brightonian would much prefer to see a single, more balanced TV programme about his or her home.
My friends from outside Brighton were put off by what they saw on the programmes. Those who watched them further did so simply to "see how much worse it would get".
