It shames all of us when we witness attacks on foreign students who visit our shores.
Actress Dora Bryan had a peaceful evening walk shattered when a gang of teenagers set upon French students as they boarded a bus near Peter Pan's playground on Brighton beach.
The thugs, only in their early teens, screamed racist abuse at them and hurled stones at the coach.
Dora is only too right when she said this behaviour is appalling for Brighton and for this country.
Every summer we read of more attacks on foreign visitors in our coastal resorts by teenagers who prey on them for money and jewellery.
Every time a youngster is attacked here it sends awful signals back to Europe that this sort of sickening behaviour is commonplace in Britain.
All the stereotypes of thick Brits generalising about foreigners ring true and we are portrayed as beer-swilling bigots wherever we go.
It is high time our foreign visitors, who boost our economy and keep local people in jobs within the tourism industry, were treated with more respect.
