Superstar DJ Fatboy Slim is bringing big beats to Brighton beach for a free concert to kick off the summer.
More than 20,000 fans of the Hove-based dance floor guru Norman Cook are expected to flock to the seafront for the Channel 4 sponsored show on July 6.
The homecoming concert, which follows a tour of the USA, will be the highlight of a string of events in the first weekend in the month. Chart-toppers Groove Armada have also agreed to play in support.
Giant cinema screens will show live coverage of the first test of the Ashes from July 5 to July 9. At 8pm on July 7 a big screen will be used to show the rock satire film Almost Famous.
Sussex County Cricket Club will also be on hand to give tips on beach cricket and there will be volleyball coaching sessions.
Channel 4 has agreed to foot the bill for staging the show and clearing up the beach afterwards.
The city's lead councillor for culture, Ian Duncan, has given the nod to the event saying the DJ's show will be the event of the summer.
He said: "We always do our best to support high-quality free events and this is a great idea with very broad appeal.
"We'll be having talks with police and contractors to ensure it's a safe event and that the site is cleared up each day."
