Abuse is not restricted to heterosexual couples or married couples and does not just consist of physical violence.
Abuse happens across the whole spectrum of human relationships. But one organisation has taken the pioneering step to address the problem of abuse in same sex relationships. Brighton-based Gay and Lesbian Arts and Media (Glam) is running a three-year project called Hold Tight/Tight Hold with funding from Comic Relief.
Glam will produce a web site and CD-Rom which will highlight the issue, provide a national resource and help victims.
According to the organisation, one person in every our same sex couples is the victim of abuse which can take the form of physical, emotional, sexual or financial.
Abuse of any kind is damaging and wrong and must be stamped out.
