Sheila Schaffer and Eileen Daffern of the local United Nations Association were spot-on when they spotlighted today's sterile election debate (Opinion, May 29).

Top of the agenda should now be: How is the entire world going to respond to President Bush's crazy ideas on "Son of Star Wars". This scheme could place London and the south in the direct firing line of Saddam Hussein's nuclear rockets within six or seven years.

I have already challenged both Ivor Caplin and Jenny Langston to a public debate and do so once again: If you really care about the future of all your constituents, you will agree.

Congratulations to the Albion women's football team and their coaching staff for winning promotion to the National Premier League.

Tremendous grassroots support for women's and girls' football in the Sussex area has been built up over many years by hard-working, unpaid individuals. Even more success is assured in the future.
