A fellowship to fund pioneering cancer research has been set up in memory of a charity fund-raiser.
Ann Rose led a team which raised more than £300,000 to explore ways of beating cancer before she died in February.
She, and husband Tony, founded the Ann Rose Monte Cancer Challenge after she was diagnosed with terminal breast cancer.
The money raised by the charity is given to the Institute for Cancer Research and the neighbouring Royal Marsden Hospital, Surrey, where Ann was a patient.
The fellowship has been set up to fund research at the institute into new cancer-beating drugs which are trialled on volunteer patients at the Marsden.
Mr Rose, of Third Avenue, Hove, said: "We have given £48,000 to the institute to fund the first year of the fellowship.
"We hope to raise the same amount to fund the fellowship again for a second year.
"As well as setting up the fellowship we have also given £20,000 for an Ann Rose scientific officer.
"The money will be used to pay for a research nurse to work for a year at the institute."
The Anne Rose Monte Cancer Challenge holds a series of fund-raising events throughout the year.
The charity will hold its annual ball at The Grand hotel, Brighton, on June 23 and is still looking for a sponsor for the £12,000 costs.
Anyone who can help with sponsorship or who would like to buy a ticket for the ball, should contact Janet Bayne on 01403 710884.
