A man was seriously injured when he was stabbed in the neck in an attack on Brighton and Hove seafront.

A passer-by found him lying in the street and gave him first aid.

Detectives are treating the incident as attempted murder.

The man, who is in his 20s, was found outside Bath Court, Kingsway, Hove, at about 11pm on Saturday.

Last night a man went into Hove police station with a friend to give himself up.

He was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and will be interviewed later today.

The victim was taken to hospital with injuries described as serious but not life threatening.

Police have revealed the victim was stabbed in the neck with a "large" knife.

Sergeant Steve Barry said: "He was given first aid at the scene by a member of the public.

"That action almost certainly helped to save his life and he is now recovering in hospital."
