Only three matches reached conclusion in the Mid Sussex League although every game got underway.

A number of batsmen managed to make hay while the sun shone with Hurstpierpoint's Andy Langworthy hitting 78 and Dave Parsons 62 as they rattled up 190-8 (Grant Bateman 4-10) after being put in by Newchapel.

In reply, the hosts were 106-5 with Ian Bennett (48 not out) leading the scoring as Karl Botting (4-53) made inroads when the game fell victim to the wet weather.

Preston Nomads III amassed 215-5 with Peter Gann (45 not out), Justin Schildkamp (44) and Paul Jeffries (30) on top of the bowling. In reply, Balcombe were 48-0 when the game was abandoned.

Streat made 188-9 with Nigel Ordway (45) top scoring as Lewis Hammond (5-71) and Dave Plowman (3-65) returned good figures. Ashdown Forest were 89-3 when the rain came.

Dave Perez (4-52) and Vaibhav (3-41) helped restrict Staplefield to 179 all out (Neil Murdoch 67) before West Hoathly's chase was brought to a premature close with six overs to go on 148-3 with Perez making 72 not out.

When Plumpton were skittled out for a meagre 86, leaders Chailey must have felt they had a chance of stealing a quick win but it was not to be as the rain hit after they had reached 22-1. Nick Heater took 6-22 for Chailey.
