A man has been arrested in connection with the attempted murder of a Sussex policeman.
The 34-year-old, who has not been named, was arrested in Northamptonshire late yesterday afternoon.
He is being brought back to Sussex to be questioned by detectives investigating the attack on PC Gary Thompson.
PC Thompson and fellow officer John Gatland were called to a suspected break-in at Whiterock Place, Southwick, on June 29.
During a confrontation with three men PC Thompson was stabbed twice in the back with an 8in kitchen knife.
The blade narrowly missed an artery and sliced through one of his kidneys.
PC Thompson, who is 35 and married with small children, was taken to Worthing hospital. He has since gone home where Sussex police say he is making a good recovery.
