Five men have been arrested in connection with the attempted murder of Michael Reynolds, who was found unconscious in a pool of blood.
The 49-year-old former paratrooper, of Friar Walk, Worthing, spent more than four weeks in hospital after being assaulted.
He underwent major head and facial reconstructive surgery following the attack in Bedford Road, Worthing, on May 28.
The men arrested yesterday, from the Littlehampton area, are being held at separate police stations in Sussex.
Police said they were not the same five who were previously arrested in connection with the attack.
