Our family was on the beach when the Brighton tidal wave struck in 1929. I was aged six months.
My brother was eight years and my sisters were nine and 13. Our mother quickly picked me up and all ran off the beach to safety.
I have always understood the tidal wave was caused by an earth tremor on the Chichester Fault, which lies under the sea off the coast near the Chichester Harbour.
