Robin Martin-Jenkins could be back in the Sussex squad for Sunday's Norwich Union League match against Middlesex at Richmond (1pm).

The all-rounder was undergoing a fitness test today after having another cortisone injection in the rib muscle injury which kept him out for two months earlier in the season.

But coach Peter Moores admits it is going to be hard to change the side which beat Lancashire by 138 runs on Thursday and produced their best one-day performance of the season.

"I couldn't fault the way the lads performed, we wanted it more than them and in every aspect of our game we were excellent," he said.

Tim Ambrose, Sussex's 18-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman, will again open the innings after his sparkling 87 on Thursday while Jamie Carpenter's place in the middle order is most under threat from a fit-again Martin-Jenkins.

Victory for Sussex will ensure they avoid a bottom four finish which would mean facing fellow first-class opposition in the C&G Trophy next season.

"The guys responded brilliantly after what I called a passionless performance when we beat Derby," said Moores.

"Tim and Carl Hopkinson have freshened up the side and we will be looking for more of the same on Sunday."

Sussex (probable): Montgomerie, Ambrose, Adams, Goodwin, House, Martin-Jenkins, Hopkinson, Davis, Taylor, Kirtley, Robinson.
