I needed a lot of shopping and my husband wanted to make a business call, so we went by car to George Street, Hove.

We drove around and around the streets looking for somewhere to park, to no avail.

There were plenty of residential and disabled parking spaces but nowhere for us.

We drove down Haddington Street, past the car park, which had a queue waiting, past the school, which was full of cars, and down the roadway to the church to turn around and go back.

Cars were parked bumper to bumper all down the road and, near the church, chaos reigned with cars parked everywhere.

We waited to turn as patiently as possible but it was dangerous because most of the cars were parked waiting for someone to come back.

It took a long time to get out again but we made it and drove straight to Worthing to get what we wanted.
