Crowhurst Park and Ringmer will take their title battle to the final day of the East Sussex League season.

With both of the relegation places still to be decided, this Saturday's final set of fixtures promise to offer plenty of excitement.

Park hold an 11-point lead over Ringmer. The leaders complete their programme away to Herstmonceux, who are one of three teams who can be relegated, while Ringmer finish at home to third-placed Ditchling.

Crowhurst Park were made to work hard for their victory at Fletching. They made a slow start in the face of some tidy bowling from Grant Horscroft (3-24 off 16 overs) but Paul Lindfield (54) and Martin Menezes (37) got things moving with an important partnership of 75. The in-form Darren Corke (41) continued the good work but was left high and dry as Ali Horscroft (5-33 off ten overs) claimed a hat-trick to restrict the final total to 180-9.

After the interval Matthew Hoadley struck 40 but gained little support against the bowling of Victor Walcott, who claimed 6-44. Clive Horscroft added 30 late on but Fletching were dismissed for 137.

Ringmer won by five wickets at home to Chiddingly, who recovered from 3-3 and 28-4 to post a total of 213-8 thanks mainly to Tom Carr's 94. The total posed few problems for the hosts as Duncan Pugh (68 not out) and Simon Pugh (49 not out) steered them home.

Ditchling went third after beating Newick. Barnaby Stubbs (75) helped Ditchling post a total of 210 all out, with skipper David Hutchinson (4-71) the pick of the Newick bowlers. Stuart Maddock hit 51 in reply but the visitors were dismissed for 165.

DPB took the honours in a crunch relegation battle with Herstmonceux. James Bentley (82 not out) and Terry Penfold (50) helped DPB to a declaration at 211-7. Jamie Sykes then ripped in with 7-39 as Herstmonceux were skittled out for 66.

Rye moved out of the bottom two after an unexpected win at Wadhurst. The hosts made 175 all out with Graham Everdell, having promoted himself to opener, cracking 61 and Dick Tonkin adding an unbeaten 43. Bowling honours went to Richard Hilliard (6-54) and Karl Khan (4-23). In reply, Nigel Hacking scored 42 but Rye slumped to 71-5 before a sixth wicket stand of 71 between Martin Blincow (42 not out) and Graeme Peters (36) led them to the brink of victory.

Glynde are promoted from division two following a 12-run victory over Seaford.

Dave Proctor hit 41 as Glynde made 161 all out, Jonathan Smith taking 4-37. In reply, Arthur Jennings hit 44 and Seaford needed 12 for victory off the final over when Proctor took a splendid catch on the boundary. Dale Tranter was the pick of the bowlers with 5-30.

With the seconds also gaining promotion from division four on Saturday and the thirds needing two points to go up from division eight west, it has been a great season for the club.

Battle look favourites to join Glynde in division one, although Heathfield Park and Seaford are not out of the picture. Rob Quiney, making his final appearance before returning to Australia, was the star of Battle's seven-wicket win over Lewes St Michael's, who were relegated by this result.

Quiney took 5-39 as St Michael's were dismissed for 100 and then hit 55 in the run chase. Jon Brown scored 44 for the losers.
