Mrs T C Carter (August 30) says only Orange replied to her letters about phone masts. This is not true.
I replied to a letter passed to me as local councillor by our MP, Ivor Caplin, to deal with because it was a council issue.
I pointed out that, as vice-chairman of the planning committee, I would investigate as far as I could and, beyond that, it would have to be dealt with by Councillor Don Turner rather than a member of the planning committee.
I received numerous other calls from concerned constituents, including the editor of the Portslade News. As a result, I decided the best way forward was to put a piece in the next issue of that newspaper, which should be in the next edition.
The bus shelter, telephone box and post box I agree are a problem but that has been the situation for as long as I can remember, with the exception of the bus shelter, which has been moved nearer Mrs Carter's property.
As a result of the problems experienced with youths in that area, the local police officer keeps a watchful eye when he is about. High-visibility police checks are also carried out and, as a result, the problem to some degree has moved elsewhere.
As a result of the efforts of PC Mark Pinder and myself, the damaged wall has been rebuilt at the expense of Brighton and Hove City Council.
