Burgess Hill were dumped out of the FA Cup by Ryman League Tooting and Mitcham in a heartbreaking 3-1 extra time preliminary round replay defeat.

Hillians opened the scoring in the 61st minute when a scuffed clearance from Tooting keeper Tony Webb fell to Steve Harper who fired home.

But the home side's lead lasted less than a minute as veteran striker Conrad Kane tapped in past Pat Gannon after Des Guile's attempted clearance had been charged down.

With the game heading towards extra time Harper should have won it for the Hillians. He was through one on one with Webb but could not find a way past.

In the first minute of extra time Kane grabbed his second. He was put through down the left by Durrand Jemmott and he beat Gannon from an acute angle. Kane then wrapped the game up in the last minute when he completed his hat-trick.

The result was harsh on the home side who comfortably matched their more illustrious opponents over both games.
