Before Brighton became a city, there was a unique atmosphere among the townspeople.
This is being eroded by the introduction the new Parking scheme, which has left a sour taste in everyone's mouths. Now the only thing people have in common is parking tickets.
Brighton and Hove City Council informs me I am not eligible for a parking permit because my area is not included in the Controlled Parking Zones.
However, parking attendants patrol my area. Where I and many other residents have parked without a problem for years, we cannot park for fear of a ticket.
There are parking restrictions of two hours' maximum waiting time in force but I received a ticket for parking for three minutes directly under a sign.
I am prepared to pay £80 pounds a year for a parking permit but the council refused my request. Obviously it will make more money through penalty charges.
I have to park my car about half-a-mile from home to be sure I won't receive a ticket. Since doing so, key-marks have appeared on the bonnet - probably because I have taken someone's space.
It's time the council listened to residents. We don't want this parking scheme.
