St Leonards boss Micky Taylor has appealed for the fans to get behind his team as the Saints bid to capitalise on their impressive start to the season.

Taylor said: "We need the supporters to come to see us play. We have had a good start and we can't do much more than we are right now. I'd like to see the fans packed behind the goal we are attacking. There is nothing better for forwards. Anyway, Tony Reid's celebrations are worth a pound of anybody's money."

There could be a familiar face back at The Firs if Taylor has his way. He is lining up a move to bring back former striker Dominic Barclay. Barclay is training with an unnamed Ryman League club at the moment but he has told Taylor he will return to The Firs if he cannot secure a permanent move.

The St Leonards boss even thinks Barclay could be back in the fold as soon as Tuesday, for the Saints' match against Dorchester.

If Barclay does return he will be ineligible for St Leonards' FA Cup clash with BAT Sports next Saturday, having already represented another side in the competition. Saints scout Andy Stevens has watched the cup opposition and Taylor is hoping his regular strike-force can exploit any weaknesses.

Hastings Town manager George Wakeling has reminded his troops that no-one is guaranteed a place in his team as they battle it out for promotion.

Hastings are second in the Eastern Division after averaging two goals a game and Wakeling has just re-signed Lee McRoberts to liven up his front line further.

That could mean striker Chris Honey is left on the bench when he returns from holiday next week, leaving Paul Jones and McRoberts to lead the attack.

Honey was in prolific form before his two-week break but the formidable Wakeling has no concerns about leaving him out.

He said: "There is most certainly competition for places and nobody can be sure of his place in the team.

"Honey has been away for a fortnight so we'll have to have a good look at him when he gets back."
