Eastbourne Borough will field a side from the same squad which beat County League Division Two East Preston in the Sussex Floodlight Cup.

They will do so despite having a mouthwatering tie with Dr Martens rivals St Leonards in the second round.

Borough coach Nick Greenwood said: "We played a squad team against East Preston with one or two youngsters from the reserves and also some of the players on the fringe.

"We were pretty pleased with the 3-0 win as East Preston are not a bad side and have made a good start in Division Two. They are unbeaten and top of the table.

"We now have St Leonards in the next round but we will be choosing from the same squad.

"We entered the Floodlight Cup to give some of the younger players first team football and experience of that level and will stick with that."

A familiar name back on the first team scoresheet after the game was Matt Allen.

Greenwood said: "Matt has been unavailable for the last few weeks due to personal circumstances.

"However, he's available now and he has scored six goals in two games and on that form should be back in the first team squad."

Allen scored five goals in the free-scoring reserves' 8-1 triumph over Lancing last Saturday.

Borough's reserves currently head the Premier Section with a goal difference of plus-27.

Andy Ducille also netted against East Preston, as did David Harris who joined the club from Eastbourne United in the close season.

It was Harris' first senior goal for his new side.

Nathan Godden was suspended for today's game against Eastern Division second-favourites Histon but is available next week when Ryman League Whyteleafe visit Priory Lane for an FA Cup first qualifying round tie.

Borough, one of the few Sussex clubs still with an interest in the competition, disposed of Whitchurch United last Saturday and swelled the club coffers with a £1,000 prize money.

The stakes rise again when Whyteleafe, who knocked out Eastbourne United, visit as there is £7,500 up for grabs for the winning side.
