Horsham are Shepherd Neame Sussex Premier League Champions for the first time in ten years.

They went into their game with Three Bridges knowing that eight points would secure the title and they did it when their total exceeded 220. Celebrations took over and Horsham, cup winners already this season, lost their last five wickets for just two runs.

In a total of 239 all out, Carl Hopkinson hit 51, Andrew Hodd 48 and David Hussey 41. Mark Hazleton, a former Horsham player, took 5-55 featuring four wickets in five balls that included a hat-trick to finish the innings.

Bridges were dismissed for 179 despite the efforts of skipper Danny Alderman (76) and Nick Creed (45). Horsham's David Hussey said goodbye before returning to Australia with remarkable figures 4-0 in 3.3 overs to finish the innings, Mark Nash grabbed 3-44.

Second-placed Hastings finished their season in style, beating Crowborough by seven wickets, but the points gained by the visitors were enough to clinch third place.

Crowborough were dismissed for 180 as John Morgan took 4-26 and Amir Saeed 2-29.

After some early scares, the prolific George Campbell (74 not out) and skipper Jason Finch (50 not out), steered their side home at 182-3.

Eastbourne completed their season with a comfortable home win against bottom club East Grinstead, who they dismissed for just 75.

John Lord took 5-16 and Paul Hacker returned remarkable figures of 3-15 in 19 overs, having had seven struck from his first over.

Roger Myall took a rare role as opening batsman and made top score of 29 as Eastbourne reached 77- 3.

Haywards Heath have joined East Grinstead in dropping to division two for next season after their game at Chichester was abandoned as a draw.

Tim Cruickshank made top score of 43 for Heath after they had been put in. For Chichester, Neil Budden took 4-39 and Andrew Perry 4-33.

The home side lost four early wickets as Paul Havell threatened to run riot and save his team from the drop.

But with John Edwards and Andy Bennett each making 54 not out, the home side reached 13-4 to save their status.
