On September 16, it will be 24 years since the death of Marc Bolan.
Marc and his band T Rex had a constant stream of hits in the early Seventies. By 1972, they had sold 14 million records and were outselling even The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. T Rex frenzy replaced Beatlemania and Bolan could do no wrong.
In recent years, Marc's enduring talent has been felt more strongly than ever, with the likes of Oasis, REM and U2 referring to Bolan's continuing influence. The great success of the film Billy Elliott, has increased interest in Marc and his music.
He was a talented, colourful individual with great charm and originality. Like so many people, I will always remember Marc and the important part he played in rock music.
The anniversay of his death will be a timely reminder to this great man who touched so many people's lives.
