I was appalled to read about the cat that was left for dead and I wanted Trevor Weeks (Letters, September 4) to know there are caring people out there.
My 14-year-old son went on a bike ride from Portslade to Steyning with some of his friends. They came across a baby rabbit seriously injured in the road. They moved him over to the side of the road and one of the boys phoned his sister to come to collect the rabbit and take it to the vet. While they waited, they put a baseball cap over it to make it dark so it wouldn't be so frightened.
It was taken to the vet but it was brain damaged and had to be put down but they at least stopped it suffering a slow and painful death.
