Fast food fans can log on for a feeding frenzy.

The Brighton-based Fullmenu web site was launched today with a free searchable database of more than 850 takeaway menus from across the county.

Co-founder Izi Muraben said: "When I am in hungry couch potato mode, I will order a takeaway from whatever menus I have to hand.

"I am not going to go out and look for different types of restaurant when I want food in a hurry. This is a common attitude and means a lot of establishments lose business because their menus haven't reached potential buyers.

"Customers lose out on what they really want to eat because they are restricted by a lack of access to menus when hunger bites."

The Fullmenu site brings together menus from takeaways of all types, from sandwiches to Indian. Visitors can type in their postcode to look through results listed in order of proximity as well as search by a particular food type or restaurant name.

Mr Muraben said: "We have made looking for food as easy as eating it.

"The site has a standard format with access to hundreds of different meals.

"Giving customers one place to find hundreds of printable menus provides instant access from the customer's point of view and can save a restaurant money in print costs, marketing and building a web presence."

Fullmenu has linked up with Newsquest to launch the fullmenu on the thisis web sites.

Mr Muraben said: "The placing of the service will help us to take the idea forward.

"At the moment there is an online calculator function to add-up a potential purchase but the visitor still has to call through the order in the traditional manner.

"We hope to build an e-commerce side to the site which could also be run over digital television, teletext or WAP mobile phones."

Businesses can have their menu included on the site free of charge.

The fullmenu team is asking anyone who has been left off the listings to submit a copy of their menu.
