Sussex seconds avoided the championship wooden spoon by producing only their second win in ten games to defeat Middlesex by 211 runs at Southgate.
The hosts, set a massive 501 for victory, were bowled out for 289 after resuming the final day on 80-2. Australian pace bowler Jason Voros took 2-84 for a match return of 10-117, while off spinner Umer Rashid helped bring down his former county by taking 3-61 from 33 overs.
Voros claimed the crucial scalp of Jamie Dalrymple by bowling him for 71, while Rashid swooped to hold a return catch to send back Nick Compton for 95.
Middlesex's innings ended with nine wickets down because of the absence due to a family bereavement of David Rendall, and their last four wickets fell for 35.
Scores: Sussex 343 and 275-5 dec; Middlesex 118 and 289
