Two new key cycle routes are being planned by city councillors to make two-wheeled transport easier.
One is a route from Hangleton to the centre of Hove.
The other is an extension of the seafront route from the Lagoon to the city boundary on Basin Road South in Portslade.
If an environment meeting on Tuesday is in favour, the public will be consulted about the routes.
The Hove to Hangleton cycle route leaves the seafront track opposite Fourth Avenue and uses minor roads to reach Hove Park.
After that it goes through suburban roads to join up with the Dyke railway cycle route.
Environment director Alan McCarthy said there was some concern about parts of the route including whether it could cause problems in the park.
Discussions will take place with councillors and cycling organisations to see if any improvements can be made to the initial plans, which include more than one option for some sections.
There are also two options for the extension of the seafront route west and if a route is agreed, Shoreham Port Authority will have to give its approval.
