Crawley Town won 1-0 at Cambridge City in the Dr Martens League premier division last night thanks to a gift own goal.

It came after 77 minutes when Warren Bagnall charged through and saw his cross forced into his own net by Steve Holden.

City's main threat was striker Dan Chillingworth, on loan from neighbours Cambridge United, and he almost opened the scoring in the 16th minute, only to see Andy Little palm away his curling effort.

Bagnall then squandered a great chance as goalkeeper Mat Nurse saved superbly from close range.

The home side somehow managed to miss several chances from close range in a 63rd minute goalmouth scramble, with Chillingworth and Holden denied on the line by Stewart Holmes and then John Ugbah.

Danny Carroll and Dave Harlow then went close for Crawley before they took the lead.
